Gin's intelligence, drive, and natural stock savvy allowed him to become both a top trial dog and an invaluable helpmate on the farm, even in inexperienced hands. Gin had a great trialing career, winning many High In Trials and High Combined awards. He competed and placed in the ASCA Stockdog Finals from 1992 until his retirement in 1998. He won numerous High Scores at the Nationals and was HIT in 1994 with his cattle run. In the Finals, he was Champion Duckdog in 1996 and 1997 and Champion Sheepdog in 1998, his last trial. Because of Gin's ability to read a situation and strong drive to accomplish a task, I learned to become a better handler. Although through the years I have gained tremendous experience in working with all types of dogs, I have come to really appreciate the responsiveness and trainability that is so typical of Gin and his pups. Gin always put up with my mistakes, never losing his patience or drive, my "baby sitter" as Kathy Warren once said.
