The clinics are open to dogs and
handlers of all skill levels but will be of primary interest to the
beginning and novice handler and handlers who are new to stockdog trialing.
The focus of the clinics will be
to help participants understand the basics of controlling livestock
using a dog, whether for competition or practical purposes. They will
learn how to help a dog use his instincts to work in a partnership with
the handler.
The methods used are based on shaping
the dog's natural drive into controlling a group of livestock for the
handler as the handler gradually takes control of the the dog. The training
process is designed to try and produce a thinking and relaxed helpmate.
